AN ALIGNMENT OF INTERESTS

Various traditions describe the holy grail as an object with miraculous healing power, sometimes providing eternal youth or sustenance in infinite abundance. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the holy grail as any elusive object or goal of great significance may be perceived as a “holy grail” by those seeking such. The search for this object throughout history has been unfruitful.  Similarly, seekers searching for peace have been unsuccessful with the one exception of submitting their lives to Christ and therefore receiving the Holy Spirit, the only pathway to peace.  Nations have had periods of peace, i.e., not at war, but even then, there was division, separation and discord within.  Outside of national or community desires for peace, most individuals also desire peace in their lives but again, the only place to find it is through Christ, in His Holy Spirit.  Satan is steadily at work, telling people that there are other ways to peace.  Satan wants to create a misalignment of interests between us and God.  God wants what is best for our lives and for us to live with joy, peace and love.  Our interests are aligned with God’s when we surrender to Him.

Some tenets to keep in mind as we live with the peace from the Holy Spirit:

• When Satan attacks, our strongest motivation to overcome the attacks will be the Person with whom we walk.  
• Constant communication provides a continual supply of strength to walk victoriously.
• Christ came to set the captive free and Satan comes to make the free captive.  

• Christ wants to cut some of the ropes that bind us in our lives while Satan wants to use them to tie us in knots.
• Something within us wants us to be independent, not needing anyone but that was never God’s intention when He created us.
• He created us to be loved and to be in relationship with Him.
• This life is a journey, not a destination and when we walk step by step through it with Christ, we experience His protection, power, resulting power and peace.

The discovery of the real and most important holy grail resides within the Holy Spirit, whose peace passes understanding.
