GOD MOST HIGH – EL ELYON

Psalm 7:1-2 (ESV) O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me, lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver.

Psalm 7:17 (ESV): I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.

In his sermon on Sunday, Pastor Lawrence showed us how God was with Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego when they were thrown into the fiery furnace. God provided the refuge, delivering the three men from certain death.

Our family has experienced a similar deliverance over the past eight years.  Anyone that has had experience with cancer likely knows the names of the five main types, two of which are Carcinoma and Sarcoma.  Carcinoma is the most common while Sarcoma is a rare type.  In January, 2017 during a routine annual checkup for my wife Jeanean, a very rare Carcinoma Sarcoma type of ovarian cancer was discovered.  Over the next couple of years, including several rounds of chemotherapy, her faith in God as her refuge and strength sustained us all.  All external prognoses indicated Jeanean would never see her single daughter married or any grandchildren from her.  Our God, capable of doing what man thinks impossible, had other plans.  The oncologist we were visiting at UAB in Birmingham every three months, the preeminent subject matter expert in the country for this type of cancer, moved to central Arkansas to become the vice chancellor and director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS.  A couple of years later, a clinical trial began for which he recruited her, mostly because over the previous seven years he had gathered enough information about her disease to know that she would be a great candidate.  That was a year ago and today her health is better than it has been since before 2017.  During the eight years of experience with this cancer, Lauren has married and Jeanean gets to spend lots of time with her two beautiful children.  All praise to the Lord Most High!
