THE MOSAIC TABLE

The church exists to Incorporate God’s family and a key building block of the church is fellowship

Ephesians 2:19 (NKJV) 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

We are members of God’s very own family.  We relate to one another as a spiritual family. God calls us to be a healthy, spiritual family by working out problems, forgiving one another and loving one another in spite of our differences. As we do this, the world has a chance to see Jesus working in the real lives of real people. We see these characteristics at Mosaic.  Pastor Lawrence described them in his message this past Sunday as they were listed in one of his slides:

  • Love
  • Belonging
  • Acceptance
  • Safety
  • Support
  • Protection
  • Encouragement
  • Advice
  • Knowledge
  • Wisdom
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Forgiveness

What are the disciplines that create these characteristics within the church?
1. Authenticity
Fellowship must be genuine.
Love doesn’t wear a mask.
In the light, we are out in the open. In the dark, things are hidden.
Where do we get the light? The Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to convict us of its application in our lives
2. Courtesy
Brotherly love means family relationship.
Being sensitive to the other person’s needs.
Keys: Don’t try to fix problems too quickly, Listen, and validate others’ feelings
3. Mutuality
Help each other grow.
Lean on each other. Together, we are stronger than individually.
We can’t be what God wants without other people.
Three parts to mutuality: Encouragement, Honoring, Accountability
Encouragement: Pick others up when they are down
Honoring: What have I learned to appreciate about ______?
Accountability: Spiritual partners
4. Hospitality
Do things together. Mosiacs usually have no problem with this. It usually involves food.
Develop relationships by doing stuff together and getting to know each other.
5. Unity
Purpose: Not unity of personality or uniformity (we are all different).
Humility: Must be willing to admit we are wrong at times.
Strong humility concepts: I need your help, I was wrong, Please forgive me.

Mosaics are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household!
