CITIZENS OF HEAVEN
But our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself (Philippians 3:20-21)
Our worldview should align with our endgame of eternity with God in heaven and we need to live it out every day regardless of the anger and animosity displayed by the worldview of others. There is a biblical worldview to which we can cling. It is one based on the Bible that reflects biblical convictions. It is, in fact, God’s perspective on reality, as presented to us in Scripture. Many Christ-followers hold to a worldview they consider biblical when in fact, it is a mixture of a biblical worldview and their own cultural values. Whatever is at the center of a person’s life will be the source of security, guidance, wisdom and power.
Security is one’s sense of worth, an identity or emotional anchorage. Guidance is one’s source of direction in life. Wisdom embraces judgment, discernment and comprehension. Power is the capacity to act, the strength and potency to accomplish something. It is the vital energy used to make choices and decisions.
Contrasts exist between human centers and God’s instructions: Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.”
We must value God’s way: Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, but his delight is in the law of the Lord”
We must beware of the human way: Psalm 1:6 “for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”
Choose God’s way: Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
Let’s not let the temporal issues of this worldly life drag us into the trap which divides. Let’s live out our beliefs as Christ-followers by following God’s instructions and living in light of eternity, having heavenly citizenship.
