INSTRUCTIONS FULFILLED
As Pastor Mark walked us through Ephesians this past Sunday morning, he pointed to the diversity of the church, the body of Christ, which led to a pondering of the purposes of the body.
The church exists to celebrate God’s presence. Psalm 34:3 (NKJV) 3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. Exalting His name together evidenced His presence within us as Clarissa led us in worship this past Sunday. Additionally, the church exists to communicate God’s word. The first church in Jerusalem met every day, selling what they had to meet others’ needs. We saw living evidence of this attribute this past Sunday as Pastor Mark lifted up Mosaics to the Lord specifically by name in prayer. The church also exists to incorporate God’s family. Ephesians 2:19 (NKJV) 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. God calls us to be a healthy, Spiritual family at Mosaic by working out problems, forgiving one another and loving one another in spite of our differences. The church exists to educate God’s people. Ephesians 4:11-13 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. One of many Spiritual attributes of Mosaic is its resilience in working together in harmony through Christ with its diverse set of believers. Finally, the church exists to demonstrate God’s love. Ephesians 4:12 (NKJV) 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. We see the Christ-followers of Mosaic equipping everyone from the smallest toddler to the oldest saint.
We should celebrate the diverse body of Christ at Mosaic as it continues to fulfill a church’s purposes as God’s word instructs.
