MOSAICS GO TO CUBA
On March 15, Pastor Alberto Alcacio and Eric Zhang departed Little Rock for Mosaic’s initial mission trip to the Republic of Cuba. They were excited to encourage churches in Cuba by participating in the ordination of eight pastors, assessing their needs, and bringing them basic medical and first aid supplies.
Visas, health insurance, COVID tests and required health forms were among the initial hurdles to entering Havana. However, the travel challenges proved so worth it as they contributed to spreading the gospel through this part of the world.
Cubans traveled from as much as 14-hours away to participate in the ordination ceremony at Iglesia Evangetica Libre. The ceremony included three days of morning, afternoon, and evening services! Pastor Alberto was invited to preach for many services and was commissioned to ordain the pastors. Another highlight for Alberto and Eric was attending the baptismal ceremony at a church in Cardenas, about two hours from Havana. They also traveled to a church in Placeta in eastern Cuba.
Everywhere this team went, they saw poverty and great needs. Meanwhile they were so humbled, touched and encouraged by the spirit and love of people who hunger for Jesus with hearts filled by the Holy Spirit. These believers go to church for all the services on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Despite very limited resources, they are planting new churches to expand God’s kingdom.
Mosaic is grateful for Alberto and Eric, and for God’s grace for a fruitful and safe trip. Many Mosaics participated, through financial support and prayer, in this small-scale but MIGHTY work!
